Saree Day Saturday: Sonam Kapoor in Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla

Saree Day Saturday is a weekly ode to one perfect saree or a saree look. Saree may be featured out draped or undraped. Make every saturday a saree day.

Our girl Sonam Kapoor slayed in the pallu draped Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla saree. Out of the newer generation of actresses Sonam really knows how to rock a saree. Floral, feminine and sweet, despite the risque back, this look captures a true essence of the saree despite the modern drape.

Weekend Inspiration No. 12 Warm Spice

I found this image going down the rabbithole from pinterest to this tumblr. I am not sure if this is the home of the original image but this is one of the reasons I love doing the weekend inspiration posts. It takes me on new hideaways on the web

The earthy tones of this photo call to me this weekend as we slowly transition to spring. Haldi (turmeric) Chilis, corn, cumin, all the spices overflowing in abundance.

Happy Weekend Suhanas

Yoga on my Mind. Coral, Patterns and pinks

I have been doing a spot of yoga lately. Nothing crazy, just a 15 min relaxing flow on my rest days from the #30dayLBD challenge. You can read more about it here. I like doing a simple yoga flow to keep me motivated for the challenge but also not make my body hurt before the next workout. Anyway, its always fun to plan a fun yoga outfit. My favorite are the yoga pants. Links below

I am inspired by the songs and I have learned so much about the brave Neerja Bhanot over the past few days. Truly an unsung hero

Ki & Ka Trailer - An exciting look into modern gender roles

I can't remember the last time i was so excited for a bollywood rom-com. Not counting Dilwale because really anything that has Shahrukh is genre breaking. But anyway, I just saw the trailer of R. Balki's Ki & Ka and it looks like a modern version of contemporary male and female societal roles. I just hope that it doesn't fall into the usual traps of the woman being punished for her ambitions and in the end compromising herself. The trailer definitely doesn't give that impression so I'm waiting with bated breath! Also Ms. Kapoor Khan looks absolutely gorgeous.  #newgirlcrush

Check out the trailer here and let me know what you think.

Note to Self 4 - On regrets

I try to follow the adage...Oh well is better than what if. But like everyone else I have regrets on things I could have done better.

The most exciting, challenging and significant relationship of all is the one you have with yourself. And if you find someone to love the you you love, well, that's just fabulous.' Carrie

Frieda Pinto in Kate Spade NYFW 2016

Frieda Pinto wore a smashing white dress with sweet pink lip and those amazing shoes....dem shoezzzz. This would be an adorable Valentine's date outfit. At least for those not celebrating frigid temperatures.

Weekend Inspiration No. 11 - Scarf for a Winter's Sun

Something about this image really speaks to me. The beauty in the negative space and the bright colors of the scarf seem to capture this bright sunny and freezing February day. Its a call to a winter adventure waiting right outside the door

7 Bollywood Divas in Yellow

Its spring, and its time to start celebrating all the colors of our world and  especially yellow because yellow is my favorite color.  Obviously being the good desi girl I went to the famous yellow bollywood heroine outfits  of "Reel" Life

1. Kajol - Dilwale

Who can forget the stunning entrance she makes in the yellow against the charcoal sands.

2. Sonaakshi Sinha - Dabangg 2

Our own Sonakshi Sinha looked full Dabangg in the yellow chiffon with a fun patterened choli

3. Sushmita Sen - Main Hoon Na

She taught us all about elegance in her sarees in this movie. Especially this yellow chiffon with a halter neck choli

4. Preity Zinta - Veer Zaara

Zaara was innocence personified in the simple yellow salwar suit and curly hair

5. Madhuri Dixit - Dil to Pagal Hai

Our own dhak dhak girl made hearts beat faster in her cheery yellow outfit

6. Aishwarya Rai - Jodha Akbar

The regal empress Jodha in all her Mughal finery

7. Raveena Tandon - Mohra

This movie made her the mast mast girl but this yellow number in the rain song was sizzling

Bhai Indeed - Salman Khan's Performance at Filmfare + other thoughts

photo from digtoknow.com

I watched the 61st Filmfare awards last night and the show was ho hum for the most part. But Bhai was everything. Salman Khan is truly one of the most charismatic man ever.

I don't think Shahrukh Khan should host anymore. I want to see more of Shahrukh Khan the movie star instead of Shahrukh Khan - the jovial guy on the tv.

Irfan Khan's outfit was amazing menswear

Disappointed to only see Bhumi Pendrekar , Rekha and the older women in a saree

Suraj Pancholi winning best debut is a joke

Kapil Sharma was funny

Karan Johar was tired

Alia Bhatt's youth centric bit was lame but I liked her dances

Ranveer Singh in a Nose Ring

Woah! I had no idea how I would feel about a man wearing a traditional desi nose ring and I surprisingly don't hate it. But then again, I love how Ranveer plays with fashion and is irreverent and playful about it.

Coldplay Video - Hymn for the Weekend

Have you seen the new Coldplay video that was shot in India. It features Beyonce and has Sonam Kapoor running through the an ethereal backdrop in the last 15 seconds. There's been a lot of controversy over the fact that Coldplay has taken the same single dimensional view of India as that of most of the western world.

Regardless of the political and cultural controversies, I do think the video is quite beautiful visually.

What do you think?

Throwback Thursday - Kuch Is Tarrah 's Ranbir Kanya

Seeing all these pics of Sanaya Irani over the web got me thinking on of the old indian serials of the 2000s and some of my favorite desi TV ships. My first desi serial OTP was Kanya and Ranbir from Kuch Is Tarrah

Look how adorable they were:

And in case you weren't convinced of their true OTP shipworthy ness check out this all time favorite
scene

Aint No Shaadi like a bollywood Shaadi- Sanaya Irani and Mohit Sehgal

TV stars Sanaya Irani and Mohit Sehgal got married in a beach side ceremony in Goa. The ambience was beautiful and you can see more pics on missmalini.com and pinkvilla

My favorite pic from the festivities was this adorable photo from their sangeet. I love the mirrorwork and bright colors of her lehenga have a easy breezy vibe.

Minimal Modern Henna

I love Henna and every festival, I try to get at least one of my palms done. But these modern henna designs really speak to my vibe. They are more boho than traditional. Perfect for long after the festival is over

Aint no Shaadi like a bollywood shaadi - Asin and Rahul

Unless the blizzard on the east coast has wiped your power there is no way that you don't know Asin and Rahul Sharma got married last weekend.

Miss Malini and Pinkvilla have loads of pics but my fave Wedding photo of the duo was in their very elegant reception outfits. Something of the cool elegance of those outfits seem to fit their modern, contemporary vibe

Notes to Self 2. Henry Miller

I need to remember this for all those moments that I consider simply ordinary

{Throback Thursday} Rani Mukherjee and Preity Zinta Fashion in Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna

10 years ago it was the middle oughts and Karan Johar released the family friendly marital affair movie and of course bollywood 2000s fashion. I am a big a fan of how Karan and Manish Malhotra sketch out their characters with fashion, Naina's - girly girl diva, even in a pant suit an Preity's cool girl look. I am a huge fan of almost every one of Preity's outfit in the movie, especially the camel leather pants and the gold sequin bordered mini. Have a favorite?

Enjoy

BIBA Change is Beautiful Video #Changeisbeautiful

I have never been in any of the situations that lead up to an arranged marriage, but the general message of gender equality in this video was very meaningful to me regardless. I am looking forward to a 2016 that is more equal and more embracing of change. #changeisbeautiful
